Pass the bag game
A game to practise vocabulary suitable for younger learners.
I know there are various versions of this game- but here is my take on it.
Prepare a bag with realia or pictures relating to the words you want to teach.
Children sit in a circle- as the bag is passed round from child to child sing a song composed of the relevant words. As an example I was teaching clothes, so I put some dolls clothes in the bag and then sang the clothes to the tune of 'Here we go round the Mulberry bush'- e.g. un pantalon, un chapeau, des chaussettes, une chemise' repeated again and again.
When you stop singing the child with the bag takes an item out- if it matches with the item being sung at the time they get to keep it, if not they put it back in the bag and the game continues.
